Trade Talk Tuesday

To Trade or Not to Trade?

Tips for Getting the Most out of a Fantasy Trade | Gridiron Experts

Today on the Fantasy Football Hot Takes, we are introducing "Trade Talk Tuesday." This will be a repeating segment in which on Tuesdays we discuss trade targets. This will include a buy low and sell high player, as well as a player you should hold onto. This inspiration comes from our last post, after talking about Lamar Jackson, I felt the Fantasy Football world needed some more trade insight.

Trading does not always need to happen. If you are at the top of your league, whether it be a head to head or a points league, do not sell your players. Try to hang onto your depth. You are at the top for a reason, no need to fix what isn't broken. This reminds me of a time I did just that and it came back to hurt me in the long run. I was near the top of my league last year. For some reason I shipped Aaron Jones and Mark Andrews away for Nick Chubb. Chubb was at the top of the RB position and I thought this was a great move. The next week Chubb got hurt and I went from the top of the league to the bottom.

Both Jones and Andrews finished in the top 5 of their positions and I was left out of the playoffs. If I were to have taken my own advice, I would have been rolling in the riches, likely 1st place.

Never trade a guy in a Packers sombrero.

Buy: Lev Bell  (he is ready)

Who out there are we looking to buy? Lev Bell. He just was released from the Jets and ESPN already has an article out discussing some of the best landing spots for Bell. The Patriots and the Chiefs are my two favorite. I can only begin to imagine how deadly a Bell Belichek offense would be with Cam Newton and Lev Bell in the backfield. Another site/blog I like,  Draftsharks , fully expects Bell to find another team. He might be hard to secure in a trade, but if his owner is in the cellar like the Jets are, he maybe willing to part on a 2 for 1 deal. Try offering a mid tier RB and a mid tier WR for him. Something along the lines of  Kenyan Drake and John Brown for Bell would be a great deal. It is important if you want him, to go out and get him before he signs with a new team and his value doubles. Buy. Buy. Buy.

Sell: Amari Cooper

After Dak's injury last week (prayers to Dak) it was easy to see the Dallas' big 3 of wide receivers was going to struggle with the "Red Rifle" Andy Dalton taking over. Dalton isn't a terrible quarterback. He is most known for getting the Bengals to the playoffs and never winning in the 1st round. He is solid. Amari Cooper was on an insane pace with Dak this year. Dak led the league in passing yards. Cooper has had great season so far and you might be able to sell him based on that. We must remember that AJ Green was elite during his time with Dalton as his quarterback so it is not a stretch to think Cooper might still have some value. The problem is Dallas' Oline. They are bad. All pro Left tackle Tyron Smith is shut down for the year and their starting right tackle Collins is also out for the year. Dalton is no Dak when it comes to extending plays. Do yourself a favor and try to ship away Cooper for a consistent guy like Robert Woods or Keenan Allen. Cooper is question mark staring this week.

Hold: Zeke Elliot

Yes I am telling you to sell Cooper, but not Zeke. Feed Zeke will be in full effect. I expect him to get a big bulk of the work now that Dak is gone. Look for Dalton to check down to Zeke early and often. Think about how dynamic Gio Benard was as the 3rd down back with Dalton. Zeke is a 3 down back who will get more targets and carries. This is not rocket science and I am sure many of you were kind of worried about Dalton at the helm. I am worried about the wideouts, but Zeke will be just fine. I fully expect Zeke to finish in the top 3 running backs still. Don't bite on any trades, unless they are undeniable.

Thank you for tuning into this segment of "Trade Talk Tuesday!" Let me know what you think about my buy, sell and hold. Also feel free to ask any trade questions in the comments down below.

Picture of the Day

Lamar Jackson was one of the most sought after quarterbacks amongst fantasy football players going into this season. Behind Mahomes, most would say they had Lamar as their #2 QB this year. Through the 1st 4 weeks Lamar comes in at QB #9 right now (this could vary a few spots up or down depending on your leagues scoring format).

Now you may be wondering why this is the "Picture of the Day"? That is because I am telling you to sell Lamar Jackson. You might be thinking this is crazy and it is, but hear me out. I believe in most 10 and 12 man leagues there is enough talent on the wavier wire to stream a QB each week. Ryan Fitzpatrick, Teddy Bridgewater, Kirk Cousins and Joe Burrow to name a few of the QB's I am constantly seeing available.

If you are 4-0 or 3-1 maybe you skip this post completely and argue that this is a cold take. If you are 2-2, 1-3 or 0-4 right now I suggest you make some moves before you are left in the dust with everyone that got burned by Saquon tearing his ACL. You don't even have to have Lamar. I think selling high on a top QB in order to get back a solid RB or WR will benefit your team in the long run. (If your team is struggling) Quarterbacks are available.

The upcoming Ravens schedule may appear favorable with matchups against the Bengals and Eagles in the next 2 weeks, but following their bye in week 7, the Ravens face a gauntlet of teams weeks 8-12. Do yourself a favor and offer Lamar to a team that needs a QB and get yourself a Joe Mixon or Deandre Hopkins in return. You likely could get a 2 for 1 deal for Lamar.

Please let me know what you think of this take? Too hot or too cold?

Why Fantasy Football Hot Takes?

Why might you be interested in reading a blog about fantasy football you might ask? There may not be a solid answer to that, however I am here to give my best opinions and hottest takes for all the fantasy football fans out there. Those that are looking for 100% winning takes all the time, this may not be the place for you, most fantasy experts aren't giving all winning advice. The NFL even made an article in 2018 showcasing some of the worst advice given by their analysts.

The biggest reason I am so into fantasy football is because of my Dad. He got me into a league when I was only 12 years old. My fandom started because of Chris Cooley the TE for the Washington Redskins (now known as Football Team.) He was such a thrill to watch on the field, with his celebrations and all around play. I think what got me hooked on fantasy was seeing my favorite player in a fantasy football commercial. That year I went on to win the league in my first year and have been hooked ever since. I am in about 2-3 leagues every year and have been in my main league with my Dad and all my uncles for 10+ years.
